About XSeed Energy
Did you know that over 97% of Ann Arbor’s energy comes from non-renewable sources? We can change this. It's time to take our energy future into our own hands and create local renewable sources of energy.
XSeed Energy is Ann Arbor’s community solar power project.
Moving our community towards renewable energy is an important goal for many of us in the Ann Arbor area. We want to give everyone in our community a chance to support this goal, including people who are not able to put a solar energy system on their own property or business. This project will allow all of us to support homegrown, reliable non-polluting energy installations in our community. The Ann Arbor area can and should be leading the drive to demonstrate that it is not only possible, but crucial, to replace fossil fuels with locally-generated sustainable energy sources.
CEC intends to use the visibility and community support of this project to catalyze widespread adoption of solar energy technology, growing jobs in Michigan’s renewable energy sector.

Solar Site Application
XSeed Energy will develop highly visible solar electric installations in the Ann Arbor community, utilizing funding from community donations and grants. Proceeds from financial incentives and donations will be recycled back into a ‘Solar Bank’ to fund ongoing solar installations. Our goal is to ‘seed’ community funded - and possibly community owned - solar projects in Ann Arbor.
The first round applications for 2010's initial installation were due May 14, 2010; a public announcement is expected later this summer. All acceptable applications will be considered for future installations.
The Solar Site Application is open for the next round. Property owners, along with the organizations that occupy those properties, are encouraged to submit an application. Applicants will be notified when the next due date has been set and will have the opportunity to update their application.
