Coming Soon: Energy Outlet Thanks to the new support of clean energy programs throughout Michigan and the United States, CEC is ready to take advantage of the opportunities that lie ahead. We’ve moved our offices to Ypsilanti’s beautiful and historic Depot Town, and we’re getting ready to interact with the public in a myriad of new ways. Opening in early June, CEC’s Energy Outlet at 44 East Cross Street (Ypsilanti, Michigan) will be home to not only CEC’s offices, but also a retail and educational space for the public. Monthly and bi-weekly classes will be offered to the public on topics such as home energy audits, weatherization, solar power options, utility bill reduction, and more. Whether our customers want to learn about greening the planet or just reduce their energy bills, the Energy Outlet will offer a one-on-one conversation with each customer who walks in the door, helping each of them meet their own unique needs. Partnership opportunities abound for individuals and businesses! Whether you are interested in donating directly or joining CEC in a Stakeholder partnership, you will be supporting CEC’s goal of creating healthier, energy independent communities. Newsletter Sponsor Arbor Spray Foam Insulation was launched in 2005 with the idea of changing how homes are built and use energy. Arbor Spray staff help people build homes that are energy efficient, safer, and more comfortable. Recently, Arbor Spray provided free labor and materials to insulate CEC's new office. The insulation acts as an air and sound barrier, reducing air infiltration in CEC's building envelope and dramatically increasing our energy efficiency. To learn more, visit their website. Energy Tips *Do not set your thermostat at a colder setting than normal when first turning on your system. Your home will not cool any faster and could result in excessive cooling and unnecessary expense. *Try an interior fan with your window air conditioner to spread cooled air through your home. *Move lamps or TV sets away from your air conditioning thermostat. The thermostat senses heat from appliances and can cause the air conditioner to run longer than necessary. *Plant trees or shrubs to shade air conditioning units. Be sure they do not block airflow.
