Goodbye and Thank You, Anika!

AnikaatRG.gifWhile working toward her MSW at the University of Michigan, Anika Fassia has been a valuable intern at CEC since September 2008.

A vegan who supports animal and human rights initiatives, Anika is spending the first part of her summer working in an eco-village before she treks down to a summer internship in Costa Rica.  Next year, Anika will intern with the Michigan Women's Commission in Lansing.  These three organizations will greatly benefit from Anika's hard work!

Thanks Anika!  You'll be missed!

Energy Tips

Did you know?
According to the U.S. Department of Energy, ENERGY STAR labeled office equipment can provide up to 90% energy savings.  Generally, these products cut energy use by about 50%.  Additional benefits in using ENERGY STAR office equipment includes reducing noise and air-conditioning needs as well as electromagnetic field emissions.

The DOE recommends:

* Using energy-efficient office equipment.

* Turning off equipment when not in use.

* Setting your computer to sleep mode after several minutes of inactivity.

* Plugging AC adapters into power strips that can be turned off or will turn off automatically.

* Utilizing a laptop instead of a desktop.

To learn more about saving energy with your office equipment, visit the DOE's website.
