Now Offered: Solar Site Assessment & Design

Clean Energy Coalition highly recommends a solar siteSolarSiteAssessmentServices.gif assessment at the beginning of a retrofit project, before purchasing real estate, or if a project owner is interested in harvesting solar energy in the future.  An assessment can help one avoid making design decisions that make the harvesting of free solar energy difficult or impossible. Even if you don't have the funds to buy a solar system now, some advance planning can cut the labor of future solar system installations by as much as half, thus reducing the cost of your solar system.

CEC is now collecting solar site assessment raw data on energy audits where appropriate. This allows us to offer Photographic Solar Site Assessment, Photographic +3d model Solar Site Assessment, and Solar Design Services.

Flint's (MTA) Mass Transportation Authority operates throughout Genesee County, Michigan. MTA's services include primary fixed routes, peak period routes, paratransit services, specialized services for the elderly and the operation of thirteen Service Centers, along with intercity bus and Amtrak Rail Stations in Flint.

Recently, MTA was awarded $2.2 million for acquisition of two Fisher Coachworks GTB-40 all-electric, plug-in hybrid mass transit buses that will be deployed in 2010, greatly reducing the company's greenhouse gas emissions and fuel used.

Energy Tips

According to the U.S. Department of Energy, water heating can account for 14-25% of the energy consumed in a home. Significant savings can be achieved by following some of the tips below:

*To prevent heat loss, install heat traps on the water pipes at the water heater.

*Insulate at least the first six feet of pipes connected to the water heater.

*Lower the thermostat of your water heater to 120°F.

*Every three months, drain a quart of water from your water tank to remove sediment. Sediment disrupts heat transfer, lowering the efficiency of your water heater.

*Consider purchasing an on-demand or tankless water heater for up to 30% savings (compared to a standard storage tank water heater).

*A solar water heater can be a cost-effective way to generate hot water. Available for use in any climate, see if you are eligible for a tax credit or rebate
