CEC Manages Detroit Area Clean Cities

In February 2010, administration of Detroit Area Clean Cities Coalition (DACC) moved from NextEnergy to Clean Energy Coalition. As DACC nears its 15th anniversary, stakeholders and members can be sure this transition will lead DACC into a new decade of opportunity.

Founded in December of 1996, DACC is one of approximately 90 designated Clean Cities in the United States. As the new DACC Coordinator, CEC will develop new petroleum displacement projects and partnerships in the six counties covered by DACC: Livingston, Macomb, Monroe, Oakland, St. Clair, and Wayne.

To learn more about DACC, please visit our website. If you would like to get involved or have questions, contact CEC Project Manager Matt Sandstrom.

Energy Tips

According to the U.S. Department of Energy, MPG ratings are determined on flat ground. These tests do not take hilly terrain - among other considerations - into account when providing your vehicle's fuel economy rating. FuelEconomy.gov provides the following tips:

*Slow down. Higher speeds increase the drag on your vehicle.  Heavy acceleration and braking reduce your fuel economy by as much as 33%.

*Switch to 2-wheel drive. Engaging all four wheels makes your engine work harder.

*Purchase a more efficient vehicle. If you're in the market for a new vehicle, take a look at the 2010 Fuel Economy Guide. On average, buying a car that gets 10 more MPG saves $715/year. Federal and state financial incentives are available to offset the purchase of fuel efficient or alternative fuel vehicles. See what you are eligible for.
