The U.S. Department of Energy (U.S. DOE) strives to advance the national, economic, and energy security of the United States while promoting scientific and technological innovation.  One of its many successful programs - Clean Cities - helps facilitate these goals by supporting local decisions that reduce petroleum consumption.

Clean Energy Coalition manages the Ann Arbor Area Clean Cities Coalition (AACC) and recently celebrated its tenth year serving Washtenaw County. All told, the 90 Clean Cities Coalitions located around the United States have displaced over 2 billion gallons of petroleum!

Energy Tips

Did you know?
According to the U.S. Department of Energy, artificial lighting consumes about 15% of a household's electricity use.  There are many simple steps one can take to significantly lower their lighting use.  These steps include:

*Maintenance. Clean your light fixtures, lamps, and lenses every six months, but never clean an incandescent bulb while on.

*Control. Utilize dimmers, motion sensors, occupancy sensors, or timers to control and use lighting only as necessary.

*Select a more efficient bulb and explore the different options that exist for indoor and outdoor applications.
