The Great Lakes Bay Region (GLBR) is on its way to becoming the solar manufacturing leader in the state of Michigan. To help move the industry forward and enhance the economic benefit to the region, a partnership between Great Lakes Bay Region 5, the Michigan Economic Development Corporation and Clean Energy Coalition is focusing on working with local businesses to install photovoltaic solar systems. The Great Lakes Bay Region is a prime location for installation of cost-effective solar energy systems.
If you are interested to learn if solar is right for you, and your facility is located in Arenac, Bay, Clare, Gladwin, Gratiot, Huron, Isabella, Midland, Saginaw, Sanilac, or Tuscola county, then contact GLBRSolar@cec-mi.org for more information and to sign up for a free solar site assessment (limited to the first 20 customers). Our pre-selected, local solar contractor, Midland Solar Applications will schedule a time to conduct a solar assessment of your facility. Your preliminary solar assessment will include:
Solar viability review for the site
A financial analysis, including Federal and State tax incentives and GLBR Bulk Purchasing Program rates
For commercial property owners in the Great Lakes Bay region, they can participate in the GLBR Solar Bulk Purchasing Program. Leveraging the combined purchasing power of local businesses the program offers a sliding scale pricing structure. As more and more business join the program and the total amount of kilowatts increase all participants receive discounted rates.
The total cost for the equipment and installation starts at $3.39 per watt (current average rates for comparable equipment installed is between $6/W and $4.25/W). As the total kW purchased increases up to 200 kW the price of the materials and installation drops to $3.08 a kW.
