GLBR Solar Aggregation Project

This project encouraged the adoption of small- to medium-scale photovoltaic systems by aggregating the purchase of the equipment. The savings from the bulk purchase decreased the per-watt cost of solar thereby making purchasing and installing solar energy more affordable for property owners.

Utilizing a tiered pricing structure meant the more solar installed, the more money customers saved. For example, if a total of 80kW worth of solar were installed the price per kW would drop from $3.39 to $3.25. However, if more than 200kW of solar were installed within the project period the price per watt would be $3.08!

Clean Energy Coalition selected Midland Solar Applications, Inc., a regionally based company, as the designated installer for the program.

Project Timeline

  • Fall/Winter 2013:  Identify sites and educate the property owners on the benefits and financial value proposition of solar PV. Midland Solar Applications is offering free solar site assessments for interested properties.
  • Winter 2014:  Final project sites will be confirmed. System and installation costs will be finalized and communicated to the property owners.
  • Summer 2014: All installations will be completed.
